The Spanish partner and co-ordinator of the WO-MENT project is the Woman's Area and Equality of the Town Hall of Estella-Lizarra.
There have been many the actions realized in these years, in formation, sensitization, conciliation, and all with the target to obtain a real equality between men and women. In 1998 the first Plan of Equal opportunity is approved and in 2005 the II Plan of Equal opportunity. At this moment, the road map 2012-2016 is in force. In 2013 the Town Hall establishes the internal equality plan as company. It has a free psychological and legal advice service specialized in genre violence from the women's diversity.
The Area, through the agreement of conciliation, works specifically the responsibility for tasks and care. Therefore, the resources that are raised are integrated throughout the overall project of responsibility and conciliation of the citizenship of Estella-Lizarra
And it takes part in two European programs. Program Irene, of information, formation and prevention of the sexual violence in young people and adolescents in 2013-2014, and WO-MENT (migrant women).
The strategic axis in which the area is tipped, is the conciliation, coeducation, the empowerment of women and gender-based violence. There are many tasks that are performed from the area; public awareness, training, information and direct care. From the Town Hall through the Municipal Committee are continuing and developing policies on equality that will ensure progress and human development in equity and the principle of equality as a fundamental right of women.
This area has been recognized as a good practice in several places and specifically in "EQUILIBRIUM/BALANCE. THE CHALLENGE OF THE CONCILIATION FROM THE LOCAL PERSPECTIVE: EXPERIENCES OF SPAIN AND NORWAY. ACHIEVEMENTS AND CHALLENGES FOR THE FUTURE."
